TUESDAY'S SPORTS REPORT

The Cardinals will send Adam Wainwright to the mound tonight against the Rays in a short two-game series.  Lance Lynn will get the start tomorrow night.  St. Louis took two games from the Dodgers in their first series since the All-Star break and sit a half game behind the Brewers in the National League Central.  The Post is reporting that Michael Wacha got good news from his scans on Monday.  It was the third test done on Wacha's right shoulder within the last month.  The organization is hoping the 23-year-old can begin a throwing program in two weeks.

Former NFL head coach and current television analyst Tony Dungy says he wouldn't have drafted former Missouri Tigers defensive end Michael Sam.  Dungy says it's not because of Sam's ability or sexual orientation, he just wouldn't want to deal with the distraction.  Dungy says "it's not going to be totally smooth" and that "things will happen."

Rams linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar is citing self defense in his recent arrest after an altercation in South Beach.  Dunbar was involved in an altercation with former NBA player Donte Greene and was charged with disorderly conduct and a breach of peace.  The outside linebacker is expected to be on the field Friday for the first full-squad practice of training camp.

The Blues announced two contract agreements on Monday.  Second-round pick Ivan Barbashev agreed to an entry-level deal and ex-Canucks forward Jeremy Welsh inked a one-year two-way contract.  A third contract signing is expected to be disclosed soon involving former Minnesota defenseman Nate Prosser

Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin and Russian tennis pro Maria Kirilenko are reportedly no longer an item.  A Russian Sports Website quotes Kirilenko as saying she has decided to terminate the engagement with Ovechkin for many reasons, but prefers not to go into details.  Ovechkin and Kirilenko met in 2011 and became engaged in December 2012.
