30 SECONDS TO MARS RELEASES 'UP IN THE AIR' OFFICIAL SHORT FILM

30 Seconds To Mars has issued the official "short film" for the track "Up In The Air," the first single from the band's upcoming album Love Lust Faith + Dreams. In the eight-minute mini-movie, which has been directed as usual by frontman Jared Leto under his Bartholomew Cubbins pseudonym, the band performs in an abandoned airplane hangar with a cast of colorful characters that includes a man covered by bees, a young woman surrounded by butterflies and a fellow circling inside a mobile hoop. The video also features lions, zebras, wolves and a massive colored chalk fight.

Guests in the film include ex-wife of Marilyn Manson and burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese, U.S. Olympic gymnasts Jordan Wieber and McKayla Maroney, models Ashley Smith and Anastasia Krevosheeva, and performers from Cirque du Soleil.

Leto said, "This short film is quite unlike anything we have ever done before . . . we take an epic, bizarre and hallucinogenic journey through a incredibly surreal landscape. It was exciting to explore new territory and once again work with the maniacal Bartholomew Cubbins at the helm."

The first copy of "Up In The Air" was delivered by cargo rocket to the International Space Station last month, before premiering on rock radio.

Love Lust Faith + Dreams will be released on May 21st and follows up 2009's This Is War.

ALICE IN CHAINS RELEASES VIDEO FOR 'STONE'

Alice In Chains has posted a new music video online for "Stone," the second single released from the band's upcoming album The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. Guitarist Jerry Cantrell told us that he came up with the main riff for the song during a period last year when he was recovering from shoulder surgery and was unable to even pick up a guitar: "The riff for that is really great, and I didn't even come up with it on a guitar. I was actually, I think, rehabbing my shoulder, so I couldn't even play. I started hearing it in my head, so I grabbed my phone and started humming this riff into the phone, and a couple of months later I found it, and I'm like, 'Wow, yeah.' That was pretty great to get that one when I was kind of incapacitated and not able to play, and just kind of hummed it into the phone and remembered it."

"Stone" is the second song from the new Alice In Chains album to reach the Top 10 on rock radio. Lead single "Hollow" shot to the top of the chart shortly after its release.

The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here is due out May 28th and follows up 2009's Black Gives Way To Blue, which was the first new Alice In Chains album in 14 years.

PAPA ROACH RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR "LEADER OF THE BROKEN HEARTS"

Papa Roach released the video for "Leader Of The Broken Hearts" off their latest album, The Connection. The album will be re-released as a special tour edition on May 6. It will also contain a bonus DVD of a live performance at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

Frontman Jacoby Shaddix said, "I was able to make this record, express myself and get my family back together and get my respect from my band. At the eleventh hour, I pulled it off. I don't know, man, this is a repeating cycle in my life. I don't know how many more times I can do this to myself."

ROB ZOMBIE ISSUES LYRIC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE

Rob Zombie has posted a lyric video online for "Dead City Radio And The New Gods Of Supertown," the first single from his upcoming album Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor. Being a Zombie video, of course, it's not just words on a screen, as spinning records, large rats and other bizarre visuals accompany Zombie's equally stream-of-consciousness lyrics.

Zombie told us what actually inspired the tune: "I like listening to rock radio. So I was listening to the radio and I realized that every song they were playing was by somebody who was dead. And it just kept going. It was like, 'Here's Hendrix,' you know, and 'Here's AC/DC but wth Bon Scott!' and 'Here's Lynyrd Skynyrd!' -- they weren't doing it on purpose, it was just, I was like, 'Oh my God.' And I thought about all the acts that they were playing and I go, 'Within about 10 more years, every single act on the radio will be by people that are dead.' That's really kind of disturbing, and that's what gave me the idea."

Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor is due out on April 23rd. Other tracks include "Lucifer Rising," "The Girl Who Loved The Monsters" and "Behold! The Pretty Filthy Creatures," along with a cover of the Grand Funk Railroad hit "We're An American Band."

Zombie's new movie, The Lords Of Salem, opens in limited release on April 19th, with the soundtrack arriving on the 16th.

Zombie will receive an honorary award at the upcoming Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which will take place in Los Angeles on May 2nd.

Zombie and Five Finger Death Punch will headline the lineup for the 2013 Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival, which kicks off its sixth year on June 29th in San Bernardino, California. Tickets go on sale Friday (March 22nd).

Dave Grohl's Sound City Players, the all-star ensemble that has grown out of the production of his Sound City: Reel To Real documentary, have confirmed a second gig to follow their debut at the Sundance Film Festival this weekend. The outfit will perform at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on January 31st, the same night that the movie premieres at that city's Cinerama Dome and in 44 other cities around the U.S. The show that night will feature Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield, John Fogerty, members of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Cheap Trick, Rage Against The Machine and more, along with the members of Foo Fighters and Nirvana.

Tickets for the event go on sale Wednesday (January 16th) at noon.

In addition, a new song from the soundtrack of the film, "From Can To Can't," has been released online. The track features Grohl, Nielsen and Stone Sour/Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor. Listen to the song below.

The documentary chronicles the history of Sound City, a legendary Los Angeles studio at which dozens of classic rock albums were recorded. Grohl interviewed a number of artists for the film and also arranged for older and contemporary artists to collaborate on new music for the project.

One of those songs, "Cut Me Some Slack," featuring the members of Nirvana and Paul McCartney, was released last month.

The Players' debut live performance this Friday (January 18th) will take place after the film, which Grohl directed, makes it world premiere at the Park City, Utah festival.

Sound City will be available in additional theaters, on DVD and on demand on February 1st. The soundtrack album will arrive on March 12th.

Alice In Chains has released the official music video for "Hollow," the first song issued from the band's upcoming fifth studio album. The clip follows the day-to-day routine of a scientist working alone in a space station, with his mental and physical state gradually breaking down due to the effects of his isolation. The new clip follows a fan-made lyrics video for the song that came out last month, in which images submitted by fans through Instagram were matched to snippets of the lyrics that the band posted online.

Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell recently confirmed to Guitar World that the band had finished recording the new disc, its second without original vocalist Layne Staley.

The CD will follow up 2009's Black Gives Way To Blue, which ended a 14-year gap between studio efforts for the group and featured singer/guitarist William DuVall.

The album is expected to arrive this spring, although a title and exact release date have yet to be confirmed.

A new Alice In Chains song called "Hollow" is online now, accompanied by a fan-made lyric video. The clip is comprised of images submitted to the band through Instagram, after they asked fans to share photos they'd taken or created that were inspired by snippets of the lyrics that the band posted online. The audio download of "Hollow" will be available on iTunes starting January 8th, followed by the premiere of the song's official companion video.

Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell recently confirmed to Guitar World that the band had finished recording its fifth studio album and second without original vocalist Layne Staley.

The new disc will follow up 2009's Black Gives Way To Blue, which ended a 14-year gap between studio efforts for the group and featured singer/guitarist William DuVall.

Alice In Chains began working on new material in 2011, but the sessions for the album were delayed when Cantrell had to undergo shoulder surgery.

Although no official release date has been confirmed yet for the new album, it is likely that the disc will make its debut in early 2013.

MUSE RELEASES OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR 'FOLLOW ME'. WATCH IT HERE!

Muse has premiered the video for "Follow Me," the new single from the band's recently released sixth album, The 2nd Law. The clip features footage filmed at shows on the trio's recent European tour, which features perhaps the biggest stage production the group has ever used. The song itself, however, was written by frontman Matt Bellamy for his baby son Bingham, who was born last year to Bellamy and his fiancee, actress Kate Hudson.

A recording of Bellamy's son's heartbeat, recorded while the child was still in utero, can be heard at the beginning of "Follow Me."

The 2nd Law debuted at a career-high Number Two on the Billboard album chart when it arrived in October.

Muse will bring its massive stage show to North America in early 2013, beginning on January 21st in San Diego and including a St. Louis stop on March 8th. For details on the St. Louis show visit the Point Concert Calendar.
