SNOWBALL FIGHT LEADS TO FELONY:
Felony snowball throwing charges have been leveled against two Virginia college students for allegedly pelting a city plow and an undercover police car during Saturday's blizzard. Charles Gill and Ryan Knight, both 21, were nabbed by cops in Harrisonburg, where they attend James Madison University. According to police, the pair first targeted a city plow last Saturday afternoon. The driver responded by calling cops to report the frosty fusillade. When police responded to the scene in a bid to identify the assailants, their unmarked vehicle also came under an icy assault, according to a Harrisonburg Police Department press release. If convicted of the felonious snowball tossing, the men each face between one and five years in prison, and a maximum $2,500 fine.
DRUNKEN SKIER THIEF
A drunk 24-year-old man allegedly jumped in the driver's seat of an ambulance Monday night at the Tyrol Basin Ski and Snowboard Area in Mt. Horeb. He drove it around the parking lot as responders were in the back of the vehicle treating someone. No information on how they managed to stop the man, but he was arrested after the incident.

A 12-year-old girl fighting to divorce her 80-year-old husband in Saudi Arabia is to receive legal assistance from the Government in what could become a test case for banning child marriage in the kingdom. The state-run Human Rights Commission has hired a lawyer to represent the girl when she takes her case to court in Buraidah, a conservative town near the capital Riyadh.
ANOTHER AIRLINE CHARGE:
The new policy of no free blankets and pillows applies to coach passengers on flights with American Airlines to the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America, she said. The airline will still provide pillows and blankets at no extra cost in first class and business class and to all passengers to other international destinations. The White Stripes say the Air Force Reserve used one of their songs without permission in a Super Bowl ad, and that they are insulted their song was used to encourage recruitment during a war they don't support. The two-member band, which is originally from Detroit, said the ad made unauthorized use of their song "Fell in Love With a Girl." "The White Stripes support this nation's military. ... We simply don't want to be a cog in the wheel of the current conflict," the band said in a statement posted to its Web site. "The White Stripes take strong insult and objection to the Air Force Reserve presenting this advertisement with the implication that we licensed one of our songs to encourage recruitment during a war that we do not support." They did not specify which war.
Capt. Phil Harris, one of the signature personalities that made the reality series "The Deadliest Catch" such a gigantic breakout hit for the Discovery Channel, died yesterday at the age of 53. Harris died of complications from a stroke he suffered on January 29.
Paul Reubens -- best known as onetime TV character Pee-wee Herman -- pleaded guilty on Friday to an obscenity charge as part of a settlement in a child pornography case. The actor, 51, had faced charges stemming from a 2001 search of his Los Angeles house, during which police said they found materials that appeared to depict children engaged in sexual activity. In a press release, Reubens's Los Angeles-based rep, Kelly Bush, said the alleged improper images were from his "extensive historical art photography collection."

A U.S. soldier has been accused of holding his 4-year-old daughter's head underwater because she would not recite her ABCs. Joshua Tabor, 27, of Yelm, Wash., allegedly beat the child before holding her head under water Sunday night in the family's kitchen sink, The News Tribune reported. Tabor reportedly told a police officer that he and his girlfriend "held her down on the counter and submerged her head into the water three or four times until the water came around her forehead and jawline," according to the newspaper. The suspect said he punished the girl for "refusing to say her letters."
Cincinnati police said they found a Clermont County mother passed out on drugs and slumped over the wheel of her car late Monday with her 6-month-old son in the back seat. Jessika Partin, 24, of Mount Carmel, was booked into the Hamilton County jail early Tuesday on charges of child endangering and possession of drug abuse instruments. She told police she injected heroin earlier in the day, court records show.
A 21-year-old Milwaukee man was shot in the groin by his mother Thursday night in what police are calling a prank gone wrong. Police said the victim told investigators he thought it would be amusing to frighten his mother as she returned from shopping. He put on a ski mask and confronted her behind their home, pretending to rob her, police said. The 37-year-old woman responded by drawing a .357 revolver from her waistband and firing several shots at the victim, striking him at least twice, police said. The man surrendered to responding officers and was taken to a local hospital. His condition was unknown.

A dairy farmer in this Columbia County town shot and killed 51 cows in a barn on his property and then committed suicide, state police said on Friday. Troopers responding to a 911 call about 1 p.m. Thursday found the dead cows and the body of Dean E. Pearson, 59, inside a barn on the farmer’s property at 121 Weed Mine Road, police said. They said Pearson appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Troopers were called to the farm after a visitor found a note on the barn door that said not to come in and to notify police. Police said their investigation revealed Pearson had been despondent about recent personal issues. Local farmers buried the cows outside the barn on Friday.
