Evans Blue’s fourth album with long-time producer Trevor Kustiak, GRAVEYARD OF EMPIRES, was released April 17th to rave reviews from fans, music writers and radio alike. The first single “This Time It’s Different” is a Top 30 rock radio hit nationally and a #1 song on SiriusXM Octane, The Buzz in Houston, 89X in Detroit and The Banana in Flint, and the song promises to deliver on its title. Evans Blue has evolved and progressed as a band, and the difference comes through in each one of the album’s twelve songs.
Dan Chandler elaborates, “With the last record, we were writing songs before I even met the guys in person, really fast. Since then, we’ve grown a ton as a band: the chemistry between each member, the relationships, and the trust we have developed with each other.” He continues, “I think people will hear a big difference between this record and the last one; the album has a lot to say this time around, and it comes from every one of us in the band.”
The members of Evans Blue unanimously credit their passionate and dedicated fans (aka the “Evans|Blue Nation”) for their continued positive, forward momentum. “Seeing what has happened with the last record and seeing the acceptance and the approval, the people showing up, and the crowds growing, has given me more confidence; I feel like I have a lot of people backing me up and supporting where we’re headed as a band,” Chandler adds.
GRAVEYARD OF EMPIRES takes the listener on a lyrical and musical journey through the highs and lows of human emotion and offers a few surprises along the way, including the haunting instrumental title track, comprised entirely of piano and a string orchestra. The fan favorite “Warrior” is a dark rock ballad that captivates from the first listen, and the closing song “Halo” just debuted alongside “This Time It’s Different” in the Top 10 on the SiriusXM Octane “Big Uns Countdown.” “Live To Die,” “Alone Not Lonely” and “Beyond The Stars” are also early standout tracks.
Evans Blue will hit the road in July to headline the GRAVEYARD OF EMPIRES 2012 TOUR, which will cover the entire US between now and the end of the year. “I’m more excited than I’ve ever been, and I know the guys are with me on that,” Chandler asserts. This is a band that has come a long way through a tough string of challenges, and every experience has made them stronger. Whoever said “rock is dead” is about to get his ass kicked.
History: Evans Blue debuted at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart in 2006 with The Melody and the Energetic Nature of Volume, which spawned the Top 5 single “Cold (But I'm Still Here).” They were nominated for a 2006 Juno Award for Best New Group. Their second album, THE PURSUIT BEGINS WHEN THIS portrayal OF LIFE ENDS, was released in July 2007 and debuted at #44* on the Billboard Top 200. Album 3, the self-titled evans|blue, was released independently in June 2009, and “Erase My Scars” went to #23* on the Billboard rock charts in 2010. To date, the band has sold over 1 million records worldwide.
