Bastille only just released its debut album, Bad Blood, here in the U.S. in September, but the record came out last March in the band's native U.K. and singer Dan Smith is already itching to get to work on the second one. The vocalist told Gigwise, "If we weren't touring so much we'd probably have finished the album by now. I've never wanted our music to be one thing. I guess we make things when we feel like it."

Smith added that the British act's sophomore effort will be more diverse than Bad Blood, saying, "There will be some songs that'll be quite guitar heavy and dark, and at the moment I've been listening to a hell of a lot of R&B, so there might be some songs leaning that way. But it's one of those things where what I think sounds like a dark rock song or an R&B track might to someone else just sound like a Bastille song."

  • Bastille's first U.S. single, "Pompeii," reached Number One on the Alternative radio chart in October and stayed there for four weeks. It is currently Number Two.
  • Smith said to NME about the band's chart-topping success, "It’s the last thing we’d really aimed for or expected so it’s kind of surreal . . . I don’t think any of us really know what to think about it really; it’s just the last thing I ever expected to happen."
  • Bastille will return to these shores and kick off a headlining trek on March 31st in Chicago.
