Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo and Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins are among the musicians participating in a reunion of the original lineup of Infectious Grooves. According to Blabbermouth, the gig will take place on January 31st, 2014 at the Whisky-A-Go-Go in Hollywood, California. Trujillo and Perkins will be joined by fellow original members Mike Muir on vocals and Dean Pleasants on guitar -- both from Suicidal Tendencies -- while ex-Faith No More guitarist Jim Martin will fill in for founding member Adam Siegel.

Although a different version of Infectious Grooves has toured on and off since 2008, the original lineup played its first gig in 22 years this past June at Metallica's Orion Music + More festival in Detroit. Trujillo spoke about the experience: "I had the opportunity to unite and connect with my old bandmates in Infectious Grooves after 22 years. Playing with that lineup was really a special experience for me, and for my bandmates to actually ask if I would do it was really, really huge, you know."

  • Infectious Grooves was a funk-metal offshoot of legendary Los Angeles punk act Suicidal Tendencies and was formed in 1989, shortly after Trujillo joined the latter band.
  • Infectious Grooves released four albums between 1989 and 2000 before going on hiatus. A different lineup of the band was assembled by Muir and Pleasants in 2008 for a European tour.
  • Trujillo joined Ozzy Osbourne's band after leaving Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves, playing with him and Black Label Society for several years before getting his current job with Metallica in early 2003.
