Pearl Jam releases its 10th studio album, Lightning Bolt, on Tuesday (October 15th). The band recorded the album in two sessions, coming up with a few songs back in 2012 before taking a break and finally finishing the disc earlier this year with producer Brendan O'Brien. Guitarist Mike McCready told us that the band did not want to hurry the process just for the sake of getting a record out: "Brandon was kind of wanting us to finish this record on the first pass-through but everybody was kind of not ready to go through that process yet, I think. And Matt (Cameron, drums) went out with Soundgarden and Ed (Vedder, vocals) did some solo touring, and I did some scoring and we all kind of did our separate things in between doing those two sessions. It might have been frustrating for Brendan at times, but we've kind of taken the time in our career to know that we can take our time with this now."

Lightning Bolt follows up Pearl Jam's 2009 album Backspacer and features the singles "Mind Your Manners" and "Sirens."

Tuesday's launch of the album will feature a pop-up store in New York City. The shop will be open for just one day and will offer other Pearl Jam items for sale in addition to the new record, including limited-edition Pearl Jam T-shirts.

Pearl Jam kicked off a North American tour last Friday (October 11th) in Pittsburgh and plays Tuesday night in Worcester, Massachusetts. The lengthy trek wraps on December 6th in Pearl Jam's hometown of Seattle.
