Stone Temple Pilots has set a title and release date for the band's new five-song EP. Titled High Rise, the disc is due out October 8th through the group's own 13Star Records. The group has also revealed the cover artwork for the disc, which bills them as "Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington." The record is the band's first release since firing original singer Scott Weiland earlier this year and recruiting Linkin Park's Bennington as their new lead vocalist.

The EP contains five songs, including the Number One single "Out Of Time," which came out earlier this summer.

Bassist Robert DeLeo told us that the members of STP didn't see the recording of that song as a one-off: "From the beginning, it wasn't 'Hey, let's together and write a song' or 'Hey, let's get together and do this show.' It was 'Hey, let's get together and continue Stone Temple Pilots with a lot of integrity.' That's really what the intent was. It's something that Eric (Kretz, drummer) and Dean (DeLeo, guitar) and myself have worked at for a long time, and we've been trying to hold up the whole integrity of this band for a long time."

STP will kick off a North American tour on September 4th in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, winding down on September 27th in Las Vegas.

The band fired Weiland in February and sued him in May, accusing him of using the band's name to advance his solo activities, while claiming that his poor performances, late arrivals, and addiction struggles harmed the band's career.

Weiland has countersued, claiming that the band cannot use the Stone Temple Pilots name without him.
