Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong apparently still has the stage musical bug after guiding the band's 2004 American Idiot concept album to Broadway a couple of years back. According to Rolling Stone, the singer/guitarist is writing new music for a Yale Repertory Theater rock version of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. The show, called These Paper Bullets, will follow a band from Liverpool as they navigate the music industry in London. It will premiere in March 2014.

Armstrong previously adapted American Idiot for the stage, starting in 2009 with a workshop version in Berkeley, California that eventually made its way to Broadway, where it ran for a year.

Armstrong even appeared in the show as St. Jimmy during two stretches of its run on the Great White Way.

Green Day returned to the stage last Sunday (March 10th) in Pomona, California after a six-month hiatus, playing the first of two warm-up gigs before a show at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas on Friday (March 15th).

The forced break began when Armstrong entered rehab in late September after a meltdown at a Las Vegas festival, later admitting that he had been addicted to alcohol and pills for years.

Following the South By Southwest stop, the trio will begin a 13-date North American tour on March 28th in Rosemont, Illinois.
