Deftones frontman Chino Moreno's newest side project, a band called Palms, has completed recording its self-titled debut album for a June 25th release, according toLoudwire. The group includes several former members of the underground act Isis in addition to Moreno, who said recently about the project, "They recorded this music a long time ago, almost a year ago, so musically it's been its own thing and I only got asked to do vocals on it not too long ago by my buddy Aaron (Harris), he's the drummer. It's not really a thing I rush on. Any of the projects I do, I don't have to do them. I do them strictly because it's fun to make music with friends and to do that."
Moreno's other side projects in the past have included Team Sleep and Crosses.
Deftones' seventh album, Koi No Yokan, debuted at Number 11 on the Billboard album chart in November.
The first single, "Tempest," is Number Two on the rock radio chart.
Deftones will embark on a headlining North American tour next month, starting on March 4th in Rochester, New York and ending on March 30th in Houston.
