Mumford And Sons will continue their series of Gentlemen Of The Road "stopover" shows this summer in the U.S., U.K. and Canada. The band first launched these gigs last August with a series of four weekend events that featured a concert in a unique location accompanied by a series of smaller events involving local businesses and venues. This year the "stopovers" will begin with a Friday night concert by artists selected by the band, followed by an all-day Saturday event that will end with a headlining show from Mumford And Sons.

As with last August's shows, events involving local businesses, venues, and citizens will happen in and around each town.

This time, the "stopovers" will take place in Simcoe, Ontario on August 23rd and 24th, Troy, Ohio on August 30th and 31st, Guthrie, Oklahoma on September 6th and 7th, and St. Augustine, Florida on September 13th and 14th.

Mumford And Sons said in a statement, "We get to put (the stopovers) on in towns not normally frequented by touring bands in buses or splitter vans. We deliberately look for towns that have something unique, or some vibe of which they are proud, explore them and enjoy what they have to offer."

Mumford And Sons have found other unusual ways to tour in the States, including an April 2011 trek during which the band traveled between gigs on a vintage railroad train. Frontman Marcus Mumford said that those shows were more memorable than usual: "What was great about the shows is that they were all unique. They all had their own character. None of them felt like the same thing, none of them blurred into one -- like, I remember each specific show, which, when you're playing shows every day, is sometimes a hard thing to do. But every one had its own character and it was great."

The 2013 "stopover" events will also feature, in various combinations, sets from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Alabama Shakes, Fun., The Vaccines and many more to be announced.

Mumford And Sons will perform this Sunday (February 10th) at the 55th annual Grammy Awards, where the British combo and its hugely successful second album, Babel, are nominated for a total of six prizes.
