Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell made a surprise guest appearance last Saturday night (December 15th) at the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle, where he performed with Walking Papers, a new band featuring ex-Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin. According to Loudwire, Cantrell joined the band for two of their songs, "Your Secret Is Safe With Me" and
Two Tickets." Walking Papers released their debut disc in October, which also features guest guitarwork from Pearl Jam's Mike McCready.

Cantrell may be getting himself in gear to perform live again as Alice In Chains inches closer to releasing its fifth studio album. A new song called "Hollow" was issued earlier this week.

Cantrell told Revolver about the set, "I don't think you'll be surprised by anything you hear. It's us. It's also really unique. It's got all the elements of any record we've put out, but it's unlike any record we've put out. Basically, it's the next chapter in the Alice in Chains book, and it's going to be a big one."

An exact release date for the new disc is also yet to be announced. It will follow up Alice In Chains's 2009 comeback effort, Black Gives Way To Blue.
