Coldplay has released an animated music video for the song "Hurts Like Heaven," which, according to Billboard, ties into the upcoming debut of a comic book series based around the band's Mylo Xyloto album. The video, directed by Mark Osborne, acts as a prequel to the story of Mylo himself, which will be released through Simpsons creator Matt Groening's Bongo Comics beginning next February. Pre-orders for the comic series are available now.
The video tells the story of two graffiti artists who fall in love during a time of war and oppression at the hands of the evil Major Minus and his army of Silencers. Mylo -- who is just a little boy at this point -- is encouraged by the artists to join their cause and save the world.
Meanwhile, Coldplay will release its first live CD and DVD in nine years on November 20th, titled Live 2012. The film and album document the British quartet's tour in support of the Mylo Xyloto album, and include footage from Coldplay shows in Paris, Montreal and at the U.K.'s Glastonbury Festival.
Premium cable network Epix will premiere the tour film as an "Epix Original Concert Event" in the U.S. on TV, online at EpixHD.com, and on Epix apps on hundreds of mobile devices.
The band is currently on the road in Europe and will finish out the year with stadium shows in New Zealand and Australia in November.
