Coldplay has the top-grossing tour of 2012 so far, according to Billboard.com. The British act raked in a hefty total of $99.7 million from its North American and European arena and stadium treks this year in support of its fifth album, Mylo Xyloto. Three shows alone at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles last May were all sell-outs, with nearly 50,000 tickets sold.
Three more nights at Emirates Stadium in London had a total attendance of just under 174,000, while the band grossed $14.4 million.
Coldplay has now joined Roger Waters, the Stone Roses, Lady Gaga and Bruce Springsteen as 2012 touring artists that have scored a gross of $10 million or more on a multiple-night stand at the same venue.
Coldplay is currently on the road in Europe and will finish out the year with stadium shows in New Zealand and Australia in November.
