Godsmack frontman Sully Erna recently told fans that he has started training to run the "Rock 'N' Roll Marathon" scheduled for November 11th in San Antonio, Texas. According to Loudwire, Erna will be asking sponsors and fans to back him in the 26-mile run, which is aimed at raising money for children's hospitals around the country through a charity called 4-LOVE-24.
Erna wrote on his Facebook page, "Started officially training 2 weeks ago for the 26.2 mile Rock N Roll Marathon in San Antonio, Nov. 11th 2012! Hoping to get sponsors and fans to help support me and raise money for children's hospitals around the country. Follow me on sullyerna.com, godsmack.com, twitter and facebook for updates on my training, cheer me on and wish me luck!!"
Erna had surgery on his knee earlier this year and has been seen onstage occasionally wearing a knee brace.
Godsmack also had to cancel most of a European tour earlier this summer when Erna blew out his voice and had to rest his throat for a few weeks, although he and the band got back into action on the current Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival, sharing the main stage with Shinedown, Staind and Adelitas Way.
Following the marathon, Erna and the other members of Godsmack will co-headline the ShipRocked cruise with Korn. The rock 'n' roll boat ride takes off from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on November 27th.
