Beastie Boys fans turned out in New York City on Saturday (August 4th) to celebrate the birthday of band member Adam "MCA" Yauch, who passed away in May after a three-year battle with salivary gland cancer. Yauch would have been 48 on Sunday (August 5th). According to Loudwire, fans organized a walking tour of the Big Apple that planned to visit all the local landmarks that became part of the Beasties' and Yauch's musical history.

Stops on the tour included the studios of WNYU, the New York University radio station where the band members reportedly met; a loft on 100th Street and Broadway, where the group played its first gig in 1981 -- on Yauch's birthday; and the corner of Rivington and Ludlow where the album cover for 1989 sophomore album Paul's Boutique was photographed.

"MCA Day" also took place in New York earlier this year, and plans are also underway to name a park after the fallen musician.

Yauch died on May 4th, just three weeks after the Beasties were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
