Creed and Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti released his first solo album earlier this week on Tuesday (July 17th), titled All I Was. For Tremonti, the record marks a big leap forward as he becomes the frontman for his own band. Tremonti told us that becoming a lead singer on his own wasn't as difficult as he first thought: "It's been pretty easy, you know. It's been fun. I had never pushed my voice like I did when we were putting this record together and I think as I started pushing my voice, I started noticing that I could make myself not sound like my talking voice, and I could do things and manipulate my voice to sound a few different ways and make it dynamic. And you can't, you don't really know what you can do until you start doing it. Once we got into the studio, it was just fun, you know. I had a great time doing it."
The first single from All I Was is called "You Waste Your Time."
His solo band, also billed Tremonti, features Alter Bridge and Creed bassist Brian Marshall in the lineup along with guitarist Eric Friedman and drummer Garrett Whitlock.
Creed is touring throughout the summer, with the band next performing in Cherokee, North Carolina on Friday, July 27th.
Tremonti plans to take his solo band on the road too, although no dates have been announced yet.
