Killswitch Engage's sixth studio album, Disarm The Descent, sold around 48,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at Number Seven on the Billboard album chart on Wednesday (April 10th). The CD arrived in stores on April 2nd. The band's previous set, a 2009 self-titled effort, sold 58,000 copies to also enter the chart at Number Seven, tying the two records for the band's highest chart placement.

Disarm The Descent is the band's first album with original singer Jesse Leach since 2002's Alive Or Just Breathing. Leach returned to the band in January 2012 after a decade-long absence. The first single from the new CD, "In Due Time," has cracked the Top 20 on the Active Rock radio chart.

Killswitch has announced that its first headlining tour in support of the new album will kick off on May 30th in Oklahoma City, with dates booked into July. Leach told us that he's looking forward to getting back on the road: "We're getting in shape. It's great, man, especially for guys our age it's really good to get that workout, you know, to get that cardio up when we're onstage (laughs). But yeah, it's exciting for me because I have taken huge breaks. Last break I took was four years straight of being just off the road, and for me that was too long of a break. So it's really nice to be back doing this."

Support on the trek will come from As I Lay DyingMiss May I and Affiance. Tickets go on sale Friday (April 12th) or Saturday (April 13th), depending on the market.
