Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix says he is bouncing back quickly from surgery to remove nodes from his vocal cords, a condition which forced him to stop singing and led his band to drop off this summer's Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival tour. Shaddix told Loudwire, "It was a little tough in the beginning; I couldn't talk at all so that sucked. It was the longest silence of my life since I was born; I just wanted to talk so bad."

The singer told us that things have gotten better for him once the initial post-operation period was over: "I'm in recovery from the surgery and I went in for my first follow-up appointment and everything looks good. So far, so good, so I keep my fingers crossed that nothing's going awry down there. I can talk again, obviously, my voice feels and sounds great, so it's gonna be rad to start singing again."

Asked if there will be any longterm effects on his voice, Shaddix replied, "I don't think so. I'll find out exactly how my voice sounds in the next few weeks. Anything is better than what it was, though, because it was f***ing terrible."

Even before his vocal problems started, Shaddix admitted in several new interviews that he came close to committing suicide earlier in the year as he struggled with both marital problems and falling off the wagon.

Shaddix and his wife eventually reconciled, while he also went through treatment to regain his sobriety.

Papa Roach's new album, The Connection, is due out on October 2nd. The band is scheduled to resume touring in November.
