No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani told MTV News in a new interview that although the band has been working on its new album, Push And Shove, on and off since 2008, the group has never had a master plan for the project. She explained, "We don't know what we're doing. Everything's basically a series of accidents and mistakes." Bassist Tony Kanal added, "I think if something inspires us, we go with it, we know when it's working and we just kind of run with it. It seems to work for us."
Push And Shove is No Doubt's first album since 2001's Rock Steady. During the break, Stefani recorded two solo albums and toured extensively behind them.
The first single from Push And Shove is "Settle Down."
The disc contains the band's signature blend of rock, reggae and pop, about which Kanal said, "We just make music that we love and we want to play. We get inspired by something, and we kind of go with it."
No Doubt will perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on September 25th, and will play a six-night stand in Los Angeles at the Gibson Amphitheatre in late November and early December.
