Muse has now released an official music video for "Madness," the first single from the British trio's upcoming album The 2nd Law. The glossy clip features a man pursuing a beautiful woman through a subway station, while SWAT team members and police officers lurk menacingly around them until the whole thing explodes into some kind of riot. But will the guy get the girl in the end?

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy recently said he wrote the song after "having a fight with my girlfriend," and bassist Chris Wolstenholme backed up his bandmate's explanation: "I think, you know, Matt said it's a bit about, you know, when you have a row with your girlfriend and you sort of disappear for a day, you know -- don't go home for the night, and sit and have a think about what's happened and how it all sort of seems so tragic, and then the next day you just sort of go home and it's all okay, you know."

The dance-pop track arrived at radio stations last month. Bellamy called it "probably my favorite song that I've ever written."

Bellamy's girlfriend is actress Kate Hudson. The couple have a baby son together named Bingham, whose heartbeat can also be heard on the record.

The 2nd Law is Muse's sixth studio effort and arrives on October 2nd. Another cut from the album, "Survival," was the official theme of the recently completed 2012 summer Olympics.
