Green Day has confirmed rumors that it will play a surprise show this weekend at England's Reading Festival, also revealing that the band will play its breakthrough 1994 album Dookie from start to finish at the event. The festival kicks off on Friday (August 24th) and lasts through Sunday (August 26th). It is not clear when Green Day will perform, but festival schedule information suggests it will be on Saturday afternoon (August 25th).
This will be Green Day's first Reading appearance since 2004 and the first time the band has played Dookie from start to finish.
The group is currently in the midst of a short European tour to promote the upcoming September release of Uno!, the first of three new albums from the band coming out between now and January.
Green Day's only two scheduled U.S. dates so far are the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas on September 21st and the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans on October 27th.
Dookie, Green Day's major label debut, was a breakout success, selling more than 15 million copies worldwide and featuring the massive hits "Longview," "Basket Case," and "When I Come Around."
