Three Days Grace has released "Chalk Outline," the first single from the Canadian act's upcoming fourth album, Transit Of Venus. The track will be available for purchase at all digital outlets on Tuesday (August 14th). Pre-order sales for the set, which comes out October 2nd, will also begin on the same day at iTunes. Drummer Neil Sanderson said about the new disc's musical direction, "We went for a tighter, more articulated sound on this record. The music we were writing was a little more intricate than in the past, and we've been experimenting with new instruments. We wanted to present these new ideas concisely without going over-the-top in ambience and overall production."

Frontman Adam Gontier told us where the inspiration for new songs comes from: "There's always stuff that's on your plate, and maybe it's too much and, you know, you're always sort of having those inner sort of battles and, you know, emotions and stuff, so, you know, I always write on a very highly emotional level and, I mean, that's not gonna change, that's gonna stay the same. So it's just about everyday life really, and it's just about the things that you have to go through just to survive really."

Transit Of Venus follows up 2009's Life Starts Now, which included three chart-topping rock singles: "Break," "The Good Life," and "World So Cold."

The band's other previous Number One hits include "I Hate (Everything About You)" from its 2003 self-titled debut, plus "Never Too Late," "Pain" and "Animal I Have Become" from 2006's One-X.

Three Days Grace has yet to announce full tour plans behind the new record, but will play the Sudbury Summerfest in Sudbury, Ontario on August 25th, the Rock Allegiance festival in Hershey, Pennsylvania on September 1st and the Pain In The Grass radio festival in Seattle on September 29th.
