Green Day was forced to cancel a "secret" show it was planning to play this Friday (June 22nd) in Burbank, California. According to a press release, arrangements for the gig were underway when the city decided to deny the necessary permits due to crowd control concerns. Turnout for the show was expected to be in the thousands, and officials were concerned that the number would grow and pose serious safety concerns for concertgoers attempting to get to the location, which remains undisclosed. There's no word yet on whether Green Day will attempt to reschedule or relocate the concert.Meanwhile, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong spoke with RollingStone.com about the band's upcoming three records, Uno!, Dos! and Tre!, which will each come out two months apart this fall and winter.Armstrong said that the trio's daring new project was "exciting and nerve-wracking, but it's more exciting than anything else," adding that the triple release was "just a crazy idea that happens to be working really well."After doing two punk operas in a row with 2004's American Idiot and 2009's 21st Century Breakdown, Armstrong said that this time, "We wanted something punchier, more power pop -- somewhere between AC/DC and the early Beatles."Asked when the band realized it had three albums' worth of material, Armstrong answered, "The songs just kept coming, kept coming. I'd go, 'Maybe a double album? No, that's too much nowadays.' Then more songs kept coming. And one day, I sprung it on the others: 'Instead of Van Halen I, II and III, what if it's Green Day I, II and III and we all have our faces on each cover?'"Uno! arrives on September 25th, with Dos! set for release on November 13th and Tre! bringing it all to a close on January 15th, 2013.
