The Strokes have announced their first live gig since late 2006, according to Hitfix.com. The New York-based band will co-headline with Jay-Z at the U.K.'s Isle Of Wight
festival, with the group headlining the second night on June 12th. The
event takes place on an island situated off the south coast of the
British mainland. Other acts scheduled to perform include Pink, Blondie, Orbital and Squeeze. Tickets go on sale this Friday (December 4th) for the festival.
No other Strokes shows for next year have been announced, although more festival appearances are likely.
The band has not performed live since October 2006, when it finished touring behind that year's album, First Impressions Of Earth.
The group will reportedly enter the studio in January to begin recording its fourth effort. Singer Julian Casablancas issued his solo debut, Phrazes For The Young, last month and began a nine-date European tour in support of the disc on Monday (November 30th) in Copenhagen, Denmark.
