Linkin Park, Green Day and U2 were the big rock winners at the 16th annual MTV Europe Music Awards,
held on Thursday (November 5th) in Berlin, Germany. Linkin Park won for
Best World Stage Performance, while Green Day walked away with Best
Rock and U2 cleaned up as Best Live Act. Cult British band Placebo scored a trophy as well for Best Alternative. The night's biggest winner was Beyonce, who went home with prizes for Best Female, Best Video and Best Song.
Although Kings Of Leon were nominated for five awards, the Southern rock quartet walked away empty-handed.
Other acts that went home disappointed included Muse, Paramore, Foo Fighters, Coldplay and the Killers.
The show, hosted by Katy Perry, featured performances by Green Day, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Tokio Hotel, U2, Leona Lewis, Shakira and Perry herself.
Linkin Park is back home in California working on its fourth studio album, which singer Chester Bennington says he expects to have out by next June. He told us that the band is really stretching itself on this record: "The
music is really, really cool and it's really good, and we're figuring
it out. We've cracked the code, so to speak, on what it is Linkin Park
can do, and we can do anything at this point. I feel like we're on the
cusp of an age in this band's career that is gonna be really important
and really big."
