Weezer taped a five-song "Sessions" performance for AOL Music
on Thursday night (October 22nd) in Los Angeles, and the guest list
included rapper Chamillionaire, pop singer Sara Bareilles and smooth jazz saxophonist Kenny G. According to Spinner.com, Kenny G did a solo on the new Weezer song "I'm Your Daddy," Bareilles duetted with frontman Rivers Cuomo
on current single "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You
To," and Chamillionaire threw down some verses on "Can't Stop Partying"
as a stand-in for Lil Wayne, who raps on the studio version of the track but was in court on Thursday to face gun possession charges.
Cuomo
and Kenny G. are neighbors in Malibu but had never met each other
before the session, with Kenny saying, "I don't know anything about
Weezer -- nothing. I've heard the name, but I never knew any of their
songs (except) some song about a sweater ... with the wool coming
apart?"
Bareilles recently shot a video with Weezer
for an acoustic version of "(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I
Want You To." The video for the album version, starring actress Odette Yustman, arrived last week.
Chamillionaire
flew in from Houston on Thursday just for his guest spot. Cuomo, a fan
of the rapper's hit, "Ridin'," said that the hip-hop star "blew us
away!" The band also performed an acoustic version of Green Day's "Brain Stew" during the taping, which will be posted online next month.
