Johnnie is the blunt, gravel-voiced fellow filling in for the full-timers and holding down weekends. He also produced some of the funnier bits floating around the station - every time you hear that little sing-song "How much for that CraigsList whore?", you're hearing Johnnie.

My top 5 movies that feature a radio DJ throughout

I was watching Stand By Me in a hung-over stupor the other day before work and it inspired me to compose this list of "My top 5 movies that feature a radio DJ throughout". Kind of a niche category but hey...who doesn't love lists?
5. "The Warriors" - The buttery voice of Lynne Thigpen as "DJ" in this late 70's street gang fick is prominently featured in this now classic "hip hop" movie. She provides the gang members or "boppers" with info and news updates various street and gang beef happenings all in a super cool, covert, almost code like delivery.
4. "Do The Right Thing" - A cracked out Samuel L. Jackson as Mister Señor Love Daddy...not to mention "Radio Raheem" and his boom box constantly blaring Public Enemy. FIGHT THE POWER!
3."Stand By Me" - Bob Cormier was the super cheesy ass top 40 50's era DJ featured in this awesome coming of age film about well.... a dead body. I loved this film as a kid because it features cursing, smoking, and a hilarious discussion about the classification of the Disney character Goofy which wasn't in the original Steven King short story that it's based on.
2. "Pump Up the Volume" - Never mind how lame Christian Slater's current TV show turd is...he was seriously harsh as "Hard Harry" in this flick. This movie is quite possibly one of my inspirations to be a slacker ass radio personality.
1. "Reservoir Dogs" - The ongoing theme of "Billy Bob's Super Hits of the 70's" is very kitschy and it's definitely number one on my list for the simple fact that I will forever associate Stealer's Wheel "Stuck in the Middle" with the straight razor based mutilation of an undercover police officer.
Feel free to add your own in the comments.
