| My boyfriend and I were together 4 years when he was killed in a horrific car accident. I designed this tattoo with him in mind, but as a reflection of the strength he saw in me. Each piece stands for something. The abbreviated version is: "My lily" was his nickname for me; the script are lyrics from one of my favorite of his songs; the water drops represent, simultaneously, the pain of his leaving and the sustainability of being real enough to confront that pain without fear; and the light represents the clarity with which he helped me to begin looking at life, even though we were just teenagers. |
