What's the story behind this tattoo / piercing? the ancient egyptians believed that if the sun didnt rise in the morning that their gods were mad at them, so they worshipped the sun. below the sun is the eye of horus (sky god). the right eye which i have tattooed below the sun is also known as the eye of ra (sun god)...therefore the right eye represents the sun, while the left eye represents the moon. the eye of horus is broken down into 6 different parts. 5 of which are represented by the 5 senses and the 6th is represented by thought. the 2 lotus flowers represent rebirth and eternal life. the hieroglyphics are read from right to left, "happiness". The way you can tell which way to read the hieroglyphics is based on the direction they are facing. for example, the "a" is represented by a bird which is facing to the right. Each character faces the beginning of the word, therefore you know to read from right to left. Ive been drawing and planning this tattoo for a few years now.
