What years were you on the on air at the Point?

Feb 1993 to the present.

What was the name of your show?

Les Lunchtime show + New Music Sunday and the Lovemix.

What features did you do on your show?

Back in 1993 when I first started the Lunchtime show at 12pm we had special features such as Reggae Monday_,New Tune Tuesdays all request Fridays then later on, not sure exactly when it started but the 12o/c hour became the Retro lunch and at around 10.15am I had “What’s the Bloody Point” where I would play 3 songs with a hidden connection and listeners called in with their thoughts on what that connection would be.There was a prize for the listener who sent in the suggestion for WTBP and for the one who correctly guessed it.

In addition to my luchtime show I also hosted and still do ‘New Music Sunday’ which has aired on the Point since the 1st Sunday it was on the air. For most of it’s life it was 4 hours long. In the early days it’s last hour used to be a retro hour which because of it’s popularity moved to the lunchtime show. In the late 90’s into the early 00’s it’s 1st hour was the Lovemix a 90 minute set of house house and trance music mixed by me sometimes but mostly by Johnny Orr a top St. Louis club DJ. The Lovemix also went on the road to St. Louis’ top night spot Velvet on Washington Ave. The main point of New Music Sunday though has always been to bring the listener the best Alternative rock new releases of the week and continues to do this each week but nowadays in a 1 hour format.

Who else was on the show with you?

Johnny Orr on the Lovemix.

What were your most memorable experiences from your time on The Point?

Being at the Point when it 1st went on the air. Sarah Clark was the 1st DJ and all the other Point staff were there for her debut when the sounds of industrial noise that had been featured on 105.7 for many weeks were finally silenced.

What was your most memorable Pointfest experience?

Spending time with Peter Garrett of Midnight Oil as he stayed after Pointfest to speak with any of his fans that wanted to chat with him and they were lined up round the block. Introducing Big Audio Dynamite and Echo & The Bunnymen.

What are you up to now?

Still doing New Music Sunday + I do a show called the Britrock show that airs on KSHE 2 HD four times a week Wednesdays at 8am & 8pm Sundays at Noon & Midnight. I also work four days a week at Wild Birds Unlimited in Chesterfild.
